Module Summary
Become conversant with the four key stages of the export cycle: pre-shipment preparation and financing, shipping logistics and documentation, cross-border compliance; finally, secure payment methods like letters of credit to optimise cash flow and reduce international trade risk.
Q01.6.1
You will become familiar with the Pre-Shipment Preparation Proforma Invoice: Initial quote for pricing and terms, used for financing or licenses.
Export License / Permits: Necessary for controlled goods, potentially including a Destination Control Statement.
Working Capital Financing: Loans or credit lines that fund production costs before payment collection.
Q01.6.2
You will able to describe the main documentation for shipping logistics, including the commercial Invoice, the packing list, the bill of lading / air waybill, and the shipper’s letter of instruction containing handling directions for freight forwarders.
Q01.6.3
You will become familiar with compliance and risk matters in cross border trade, based on trusted trader registration; automated customs documentation and customs clearance; certificate of origin needed for tariff eligibility; and export credit insurance covering buyer default or political risks.
Q01.6.4
You will be briefed on matters of exports' payment & financing, including the letter of credit; documentary collection when banks release shipping documents to buyers only after payment or bank draft acceptance; also post-shipment financing for immediate cash flow.
